• Arbor Elf – The best part of this card is the flavor text.
• Avenger of Zendikar – Somewhere a 7 year old pooed a little when they saw this. I'm not 7, I'm not impressed.
• Bestial Menace – a 3/3, 2/2, 1/1 for 5 mana? YEAH I'll Bituminous Blast into that. I'll just cast it. Whatever. This card is really quite nice! (Note from the Editor: You can not Cascade into this card with Bituminous Blast.)

• Admonition Angel – Six mana for a 6/6 Flyer. I'll take it! Wait, Wait there's more! Whenever you play a land you get and Oblivion Ring. My rain falled out my face jar...
• Apex Hawks – Limited. Not going to happen anywhere else.
• Archon of Redemption – This card is good, but it costs 3WW. Know what else costs 3WW? I'll give you a hint, it slays bane. In Block expect to see this sultry (I just discovered first hand how easy it is to confuse sultry and slutty when typing) little number more that once.
• Battle Hurda – Only have 39 card in your draft deck and already have 18 lands? Here's your guy :(

Set review of Worldwake starting with Black and Red.
BLACK
• Abyssal Persecutor – 6/6 Flying, Trample for 2BB. Jesus “Ice Skating” Christ
• Agadeem Occultist – Shrugs. I'm not a fan, but I won't be shocked when I get beaten by it.
• Anowon, the Ruin Sage – Good. Great in Block. Vampires just put up big numbers in a 5k and this set is full of new toys. It's like Twilight – Sparkle.
• Bloodhusk Ritualist - Also pretty solid, I'm not sure this takes the spot filled by Mind Sludge, but it may.

100 Cards of Fantastic Hello again! Brennan here switching gears from the last article I wrote for Standard to a much more casual format, EDH! It’s the format of broken combo’s, insane million mana spells and the source of the biggest bad beat stories as well as the best Warp Worlds of all time. Before proceeding lets thank the Godfather of EDH, Mr. Sheldon Menery. He is renowned as the architect of the format and its strongest supporter. Enough with the niceties, lets get the ball rolling. Generally when it comes to FNM I draft and leave the 60 card decks to brave souls who want to play with or against Jund. But this week I played a deck that I've been working on for a few weeks just for S&Gs. The deck was GBW and really really greedy with landfall. When I was working out the deck list what I did was take a Jund list and made my card choices on based on what I thought would be a fair and comparable card to one of the 36 bombs Jund plays. |
Sometimes Magic the Gathering is like Sweet Valley High/Melrose Place/90210. Sometimes. This time. I'm going to be the bigger person (I'm used to It's been an odd MTG week for me. I went 0-4 in matches 1-8 in games. Yep. Well, actually, I am 1-7 and “Robert, I'd rather watch my friends sing Lady Gaga – Bad Romance at Karaoke so you win!” So, what am I going to talk about? Well, I do have some stuff to address, a little closet cleaning if you will. And a fairly big, pretty cool announcement which I will hit you with at the end of business.
